We are so appreciative and proud to work with various parties in the Iowa City area this year to arrange many Lunar New Year celebrations! 

In August Chai laoshi is invited by Beijing Language and Culture University Press to give an online lecture on the MCA's Individualized Instruction Program! (see more)

Since September Chinese Culture Club is now offered at Wickham Elementary and Horn Elementary in the Iowa City area!

In October Chai Laoshi went back to the Ohio State to give a talk on our Chinese Culture Club after school program and nonprofit organization at the "Performed Culture Approach" conference that celebrated the retirement of her advisors Professors Galal Walker and Mari Noda and reunited many of their advisees and now professors of Chinese and Japanese around the country!

Congratulations! The MCA student Jacky is now a University of Maryland undergraduate!

Maryland Chinese Academy has moved to Iowa as Midwest Chinese Academy now proudly serving both Maryland and Iowa areas!

Congratulations! The MCA students Jacky and Colin have reached the required proficiency levels and been admitted to the STARTALK Chinese federal grant program while continuing to study at MCA!

Congratulations! The MCA student Colin's written work was one of the pieces chosen for inclusion in the Chinese Language Teachers Association's annual publication Selection of American K-12 Outstanding Chinese Works (June 2021) and is rated as Intermediate High. The journal received a large volume of submissions this year, and the works chosen were truly exemplary.
